The Game of Love. - Frederick

People play games for many reasons, but increasing numbers are finding that they are a great way to size up potential partners. These days, in a lot of online games, we can see many people who fall in love, online. We can see that even though they haven’t seen each other yet, they can still fall in love. Strange huh?

Hundreds people, or maybe thousands of them can say that they found their soul mate from Prontera (a city in the game Ragnarok Online). Some of them may also marry their couple because of the game. Seeing other player as avatars or characters may not stop them for loving other people. Seeing their characters with cute headgears may also lead the people to be attracted.

For a while, this issue was taboo. Couples won’t tell that they met online and finally become married. Now? It’s just another style of a lifestyle.

The advantages of dating from an online game will be that the couple has the same interests and hobbies.

But, for sure, that’s where the advantages end. We can’t see anything for real. Photos can’t tell anything, it can be just a hoax. You can’t know their real name for sure, or even real gender. Conversations in game are very limited.

Maybe you think this issue as creativity, or maybe a frustration. Are they winners or losers? They can be very good at game and have nothing in the real world. I am sure that they are real heroes in the real world but are nothing in the game. Game masters are like God. They can’t be killed. Or if they can, they can kill you back in just a snap of time.

I have one friend. Well, she is my best friend. But then after leaving SPH, we contacted each other with online games. Sow, as I enter IB, I can’t play that much again. When I met her again, she said that she already have a lover from online game. She never know the person well, they just contacted each other. They even never see the real photo of the person. But they dated. Gross.

In conclusion, online games are very good for socializing. I got many friends from online games too. But in my opinion, dating in an online game is just wrong. Why don’t people choose to date a person they know well? Uhh, sick.
